Education Minister Manish Sisodia has written to Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi saying he has received complaints alleging interference by the V-C Office in election of chairpersons for governing bodies in 28 DU colleges where such bodies were notified last month. These 28 colleges are funded either fully of partially by the Delhi government.

The college principals recieved calls from from VC’s office to prevent the Delhi government nominee from becoming Chairperson. They were even asked to gather support from within the University to elect a Delhi University nominee.

The Minister even highlighted an incident at Satyawati College. The college principal was allegedly asked to postpone a governing body meeting to elect the chairperson by the DU Assistant Registrar. He feels that it is quite unfortunate for an esteemed institutions like DU to have their offices subvert the democratic process.

We really hope that this feud between Delhi government and V-C office members gets resolved as soon as possible without affecting the election procedure and right candidates are elected without any bias.
