DU Admissions 2019 : DU JAT 2019 Results Declared ; Ishaan Jain & Shantanu Chaudhary Topped The Exam

The admission committee of Delhi University is planning to conduct entrance exam for 2019 Undergraduate admissions. However, the final list will also include Class XII marks.

This comes after the decision to conduct the test was canceled in 2017 and then again in 2018. The idea to conduct computer-based entrance exam was dropped in 2017 after some students indicated that aspirants from remote areas would be at loss. In 2018, the admission committee and the University advisory could not reach an agreement and hence, this plan was called off.

In a notification dated 2nd November 2018, the University invited suggestions regarding the same. Many stakeholders believe that entrance exam is the best alternative to cut-off determined admission process.Usually, the admission process goes on till August but a qualifying exam will decrease the duration of the whole admission process. It will also end disparities that exist between students belonging to different education boards.

The test is likely to be conducted by National Test Agency (NTA).The eligibility for the test will be kept low, thus allowing more students to grab a seat. According to Times of India, DU Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi said the committee is considering outsourcing the exam to NTA, which conducts various national-level exams such as JEE and NET.
