Where Delhi University is working hard and preparing for the upcoming Academic session to conduct online entrance exam for post graduate and a few under graduate courses. But with the continuous protest by the Right affiliated student organization- Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarti Parishad(ABVP) against the online test has put the varsity into a difficult situation.

Delhi University may not conduct online entrance for admissions to its various PG and professional UG courses for the upcoming academic session which is likely to commence in mid of this month.

In a meeting of admission committee that was held on Wednesday, the ABVP members expressed their opinion against the varsity’s decision alleging that conducting online test would be ‘counterproductive’ for a large chunk of students who come from marginal background.

“Our concern from the university is to go ahead with the written form of examination. Because most of the students come from rural areas if the online test would be introduced than a large population of students will not a get chance to appear for the exam,” said Saket Bahuguna , national media convener of ABVP.

DU is planning to outsource the whole process of online entrance. Tenders for the same have already been floated.

“If the admission committee wants to conduct online test then it should implement this system on a pilot basis in which it should give both choices of online and offline mode of exam and that too in only Delhi centers(examination). It will give lakhs of students a chance to appear for the exams” Bahuguna added.

However, an admission committee member said that by seeing continuous protest from the right wing student organization, it is unlikely that DU conducts online test this year. However, he also said, the varsity has limited time at its disposal before the admission time starts.
